Alpha Phi Foundation & Women's Heart Health

The Alpha Phi Foundation cares about improving women’s heart health, and has supported education and research since 1946. To support this cause, we have hosted Heart Health Week, Mac 'n' Phis and Alpha Phifa on Carnegie Mellon's campus each year. Sisters donate on average 6 hours/year to fundraising and supporting the Foundation at philanthropy events.

Individual sisters also give their time to organizations like CMU in Haiti, UNICEF, Engineers without Borders, and many other service organizations on campus. We are especially proud of our sisters who devote their summers to Camp Kesem, a camp that works with children whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Fun fact: In 2017, we raised over $10,000 in just three months to support Camp Kesem, taking home a philanthropy trophy at Greek Sing (just one of three trophies we took home that night, can you tell we're proud?) in recognition of our dedication.

Our sisters complete a minimum of 5 service hours each semester with many sisters choosing to go above and beyond what is expected of them.

Alpha Phifa

This past year, we hosted Alpha Phifa. Alpha Phifa is a fundraising event where different organizations across campus form teams to play in a 6v6 soccer tournament.

From Alpha Phifa, we were able to raise $1,100 for Women's Heart Health Research. This the the MOST we've ever made in CMU Alpha Phi history!

Thank you to all the teams who came out to compete and all sisters that came out to help ref the game. We can't wait for next year!

Pie-A-Phike

For Greek Sing 2022, we fundraised with our partners, Pi Kappa Alpha, through Pie-a-Phike. We chose to fundraise for the Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF) and are so excited to announce that we raised $700!

This event was so much fun to run and couldn't be happier with how it went!

Fun fact: We ran out of whipped cream after going to the store to get more twice, so one of our sisters got ice cream and milk from Entropy to make our own improv ice cream!

Mr. Heartthrob

In 2022, we hosted CMU Alpha Phi's first ever Mr. Heartthrob! Mr. Heartthrob is a well-known philanthropy event that Alpha Phis all over the world host. It is best described as "a skill-based competition where fraternity contestants compete in a series of different events."

We were able to raise over $1000 at Mr. Heartthrob for the Alpha Phi Foundation. Along with that, we also sold bouquets of roses during Valentine's Day and raised $400. These funds all went to the Foundation.

We cannot wait to continue this tradition at Carnegie Mellon!
